When the Tay Bridge shuts
The Tay Bridge is the usual way west. When it shuts — high wind, a road traffic collision, overnight works — the alternative is Perth and the M90, and that adds time rather than miles you will notice on a map.
We watch the closures the same way we watch flights. If the bridge is down before we leave, the pickup does not change; the route does. The fare on a named airport run stays the fare you booked. It is not a meter, so a longer road is our problem, not a surcharge.
Local journeys to Dundee are the ones that actually move. If the bridge is closed we will say so when we confirm the car, and we will leave earlier rather than arriving late. If you have a train at Leuchars instead, say that — it is often the cleaner way round a shutdown.
